The movement of the Divine chariot reflects a perfect, unceasing harmony. In this heavenly system, the angelic beings known as Cherubim and the wheels that accompany them act in absolute coordination. The movement remains entirely consistent with past visions, as the wheels always move right alongside the Cherubim [מצודת דוד]. Whether the angels are moving forward or physically lifting upward into the air [מצודת ציון], the wheels stay firmly beside them and never turn away or deviate from their position [ביאור שטיינזלץ].
On a deeper level, these two distinct types of motion represent the different ways God manages reality. The standard forward movement symbolizes God guiding the world through the ordinary, established laws of nature. In contrast, the upward lifting represents a higher, supernatural guidance that operates completely above the natural order. In both of these states, the wheels never separate from the Cherubim. They are entirely bound to the spirit of the heavenly beings above them, which constantly direct the natural order and alter it whenever necessary [מלבי״ם].
