Following the severe punishment imposed upon the nation, the entire world will come to realize that God is absolutely faithful in delivering appropriate retribution and executing true justice [מצודת דוד].

The destruction brought upon the land is depicted through the imagery of a consuming fire. Commentators universally agree that this is not a literal blaze, but rather a powerful metaphor, though they offer different perspectives on its exact meaning. One approach understands this fire as a symbol of the burning anger and wrath of God directed at the empire [רש״י, מצודת דוד]. Another view suggests that the flames represent fierce, powerful nations that God will unleash upon Egypt to bring about its complete ruin [רד״ק].
