The situation is incredibly urgent, as Esau could return from the field at any second. Furthermore, Jacob deeply values the blessing he is about to receive. Despite these factors, the events unfold without any sense of speed or enthusiasm. In other accounts involving figures like Abraham, Eliezer, or Rebecca, swift action is marked by rushing and hurrying. Here, however, Jacob moves at a noticeably measured pace.

This lack of haste reveals Jacob's intense inner turmoil. He is deeply uncomfortable with the prospect of deceiving his father. Rather than acting with eager anticipation, he moves forward out of a profound sense of internal compulsion. He is merely fulfilling his mother's wishes, acting entirely against his own desires. He carries out the necessary steps feeling forced, weighed down, and weeping as he proceeds [הכתב והקבלה].
