Hiram replies in a written letter, expressing deep satisfaction with the friendly tone of Solomon's message and the honor of being approached by such a significant partner [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. His response goes beyond simple politics, reflecting a clear recognition of Divine providence. The primary approach among commentators is that Hiram openly declares Solomon's appointment to the throne as a direct result of God's love for Israel. Because God loves His people, He placed Solomon over them as king to serve as a source of glory and a vital help to the nation [מצודת דוד].

Alongside this open blessing and praise to God for granting David a wise son, the letter carries a layer of sophisticated diplomatic communication. In his original appeal, Solomon deliberately avoided asking directly for materials to build his own private palace. He wanted to ensure that the primary focus of his request remained entirely on the construction of the house of God.
