דברי הימים ב, פרק כ״ח, פסוק י״ד

Following a military campaign, the returning armed forces faced a critical moment of decision regarding the people and goods they had captured. Commentators agree that these frontline soldiers displayed complete obedience by surrendering their control to the national leadership. They willingly gave up everything they had acquired during the battle, releasing both the human prisoners of war and all the physical property and loot they had gathered.

Instead of keeping the spoils for themselves, the warriors stepped back and placed the captives and the gathered wealth directly before the officers and the assembled community. By doing this, the soldiers transferred the full responsibility of the situation to the leaders, allowing them to decide how to handle the prisoners and the property exactly as they saw fit.
