The family tree of Amram centers on three key figures: Aaron, Moses, and Miriam. From this family, the focus shifts specifically to the children of Aaron, tracing the origins of the priesthood through his four sons: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

The events of their lives directly shaped the future of the priestly dynasty. Nadab and Abihu died while their father was still alive. They passed away without leaving behind any sons, and it is possible they had no children at all. Because of this early loss, the continuation of the priestly line rested entirely on the surviving brothers, Eleazar and Ithamar. These two remaining sons became the foundation for the two great priestly families [שטיינזלץ].
