The conflict with the regional Arab tribes ended in a massive victory for the Israelites, resulting in a huge amount of captured wealth and prisoners. This incredible military success was not just a matter of strategy, but a direct result of divine intervention. God saw the suffering of His people and decided the outcome of the battle, ensuring the war was guided entirely by Him [מלבי״ם, ביאור שטיינזלץ].

The scale of the triumph is shown through the enormous amount of property and prisoners of war taken from the defeated tribes [מצודת ציון]. The description of the spoils first speaks generally about capturing the enemy's livestock, and then immediately lists the exact types and vast quantities of the animals seized, such as camels, sheep, and donkeys [מצודת דוד].

Following this complete victory, the Israelites did not just take the spoils and leave. They settled directly in the newly conquered lands. They took firm control of the region, maintaining their communities and military forces there for generations. They remained in this territory until the days of Jotham, when they were finally driven out and sent into exile by the king of Assyria [מלבי״ם].
