נחמיה, פרק י״ג, פסוק ז׳

Upon returning to Jerusalem, Nehemiah discovered a severe offense that had taken place while he was away. He paid close attention and fully grasped the wickedness of the actions committed by Eliashib.

This offense was carried out for the benefit of Tobiah, a man known as an enemy. Eliashib had gone out of his way to prepare and clear a specific space for him. There is a general consensus among commentators that this space was a physical chamber. Eliashib had intentionally emptied and prepared this room exclusively for Tobiah, setting it up directly within one of the courtyards of the House of God.
