Nehemiah 13:14Sefaria

After repairing the spiritual fractures within the nation, Nehemiah turns to God to seek recognition and reward. Previously, the people had taken an oath to observe three core commandments: bringing tithes, keeping the Sabbath, and separating from foreign women. However, during Nehemiah's absence from Jerusalem, the people violated these promises. Upon his return, he took firm action to reverse the damage and restore their spiritual commitment.

Because the initial acceptance of these laws was led by Ezra or initiated by the people themselves, Nehemiah now asks God for a special consideration. He prays that since he stepped in to fix the crisis, the merit should be attributed to him as if he had established these practices entirely on his own from the very beginning [מלבי״ם]. He asks God to remember him and credit this good deed to his account [מצודת דוד]. This specific plea for remembrance is a request to receive goodness and reward in this present world [ר' סעדיה גאון].

Furthermore, Nehemiah asks God to ensure his kind deeds are never erased While his request to be remembered focuses on this life, his plea that his actions remain unerased is directed toward preserving his merits for the World to Come [ר' סעדיה גאון]. These devoted actions center around his work for the house of God, specifically referring to his efforts in restoring the proper daily operations of the Temple and returning the shifts of the priests and Levites to their rightful posts
