יחזקאל, פרק ז׳, פסוק א׳

Following closely on the heels of prior events, a new prophetic message arrives with a clear and urgent warning. The end has finally come, and the terrible fate decreed upon the region will not be delayed any longer [אברבנאל]. Although the warning is addressed to the land of Israel as a whole, its true target is Jerusalem and the kingdom of Judah. It is common for prophetic messages to refer to Judah using broader national names, such as the house of Israel or the mountains of Israel.

The approaching disaster is set to strike every corner of the land at the exact same time. This total devastation is the result of a complete lack of righteous individuals who might otherwise protect the region. Not a single city remains that still holds a fear of God. Consequently, the enemy will sweep through and conquer the entire territory all at once. The message heavily emphasizes the immediate timing of this end to make sure the people understand reality. The destruction is not a distant threat for the future, but an event that will happen right now, without any further delay.
