The organization of the Levite families involved specific adjustments to their ancestral structures. Over time, certain groups were combined to form unified households. The ancestral house originally established by Yeriahu was merged with the family of Amariahu, which was next in line. Once these two groups were joined into a single family unit, they were collectively known from then on by the name of Amariahu [מצודת דוד].
Not all of the Levite families experienced this kind of reorganization. The subsequent ancestral houses, specifically those of Yachziel the third and Yekameam the fourth, remained completely independent. They did not undergo any mergers or structural changes, instead keeping their original family names [מצודת דוד].
