Because of their immense courage, these brothers rose to become the primary heads and leaders, exercising authority even over the other established leaders of their tribe. It is also possible that their position simply reflects their recognition as the most prominent and central figures among all the tribal leaders [רד״ק].

At the conclusion of this family record, their sister, Shua, is explicitly named. She is recorded alongside her brothers because she held a distinct and significant level of importance in her own right [ביאור שטיינזלץ].
