Biblical genealogies often serve as more than just a record of ancestors; they act as a map of history and geography. The nine sons of Becher represent a vital link between the family lineage of the tribe of Benjamin and the actual land they inhabited. Rather than simply living in the territory, some of these individuals actively shaped its geography by establishing towns that carried their personal legacy.

For instance, Anathoth was not merely a member of the family, but the founder of the famous city of Anathoth. He built the town and named it after himself, embedding his identity into the landscape [רד״ק]. Likewise, Alemeth left a similar mark, founding a city in the territory of Benjamin that bore his name. This location is identified as the well-known biblical town of Bahurim. This historical connection is preserved in early translations of the Bible, which directly substitute the name Bahurim with Alemeth, showing how the founder's legacy lived on in the region's geography [רד״ק].
