Protecting the Temple required a comprehensive network of guards stationed around the entire perimeter of the sacred site. This complete security system enclosed the building from every possible direction [רלב״ג]. The guards were carefully positioned to cover all four cardinal points: the east, west, north, and south [ביאור שטיינזלץ].

This full-circle deployment served a greater purpose than mere physical protection. While it naturally provided necessary security, the surrounding presence of guards was designed to bestow greatness and honor upon the Temple. It is only fitting that a site of such immense dignity be completely encircled by an honor guard on every side [מצודת דוד].
