Obadiah is deeply astonished by Elijah's abrupt change in behavior, which presents a sharp and confusing contrast. For an extended period, the prophet remained carefully hidden from those who were actively hunting him. Now, he wants to do the exact opposite and reveal himself entirely of his own free will. The instruction to go and announce Elijah's presence to his master seems completely illogical and impossible to carry out. To Obadiah, this new directive entirely contradicts the intense secrecy and hiding that had defined the prophet's reality up until that very moment [מלבי״ם].
