Job 9:12Sefaria

God’s absolute power operates with a swiftness that leaves humanity completely defenseless. When His decrees are executed, they arrive rapidly and without prior warning, stripping away any illusion of human control.

The primary approach among commentators understands this divine action as a sudden snatching or forceful taking Others view it as an abrupt physical blow [רש״י] or an act of sheer destruction [אבן עזרא]. What exactly is taken remains a matter of perspective. Some explain that God takes the individual directly [מצודת דוד, רלב״ג], while others suggest He strips away a person's property and possessions [רמב״ן]. For Job, this abrupt devastation was deeply personal. The rapid loss of his children and wealth occurred so suddenly that he was denied any opportunity to pray, correct his ways, or attempt to prevent the disaster [אלשיך].

In the wake of such sudden loss, humanity faces utter powerlessness. No person possesses the strength to retrieve what God has forcefully taken, nor can anyone stop Him from carrying out His will

Beyond this physical inability to resist, there is a profound intellectual helplessness. No individual can criticize, protest, or even demand an explanation for God's actions An ordinary person simply lacks the required wisdom to challenge God, who possesses the ultimate understanding of all things [רמב״ן]. Furthermore, this inability to question divine judgment is not limited to the earthly realm. Even within the heavenly court, the defending angels who advocate on behalf of humanity cannot argue or interrogate God about the meaning of His decree once it has been set into motion [אלשיך].
