As Joshua advances from Libnah to Lachish, a fresh military force arrives to confront him. Exactly at the moment of this advance, Horam, the king of Gezer, mobilizes his troops and leaves his territory in an attempt to assist Lachish in the ongoing battle [ביאור שטיינזלץ].
