Following the military campaign in Lachish, the Israelite army continues its advance. Joshua leads all the people directly toward the city of Eglon, where they set up camp and prepare for battle. This target is not chosen at random. The decision to attack Eglon is a direct response to the city's previous actions, stemming from the fact that it had actively taken part in the hostile alliance.
