Absolute trust in Divine providence strips any human threat of its power. When a person truly feels the closeness of God, the fear of flesh and blood completely disappears.

The primary approach among commentators is that knowing God is actively present and standing ready to help removes all fear. When God supports someone, enemies and opponents lose any real ability to cause harm. The natural response to this Divine backing is a confident realization that a mere mortal cannot possibly inflict damage when God is standing right by one's side.

While this is typically understood as a defense against everyday human threats, another perspective reveals a deeper spiritual confidence [אלשיך]. Rather than referring to ordinary people, this view connects the threat to Adam, the first man. A person does not need to fear the spiritual flaw brought into the world by Adam's original sin. Because God is present with His complete name—the very name that Adam himself first revealed—the relationship with Him is fully repaired. With this perfect connection restored, the ancient sin of the first man loses its power to cause spiritual harm.
