תהלים, פרק קמ״ה, פסוק י״ב

Psalms 145:12Sefaria

לְהוֹדִ֤יעַ ׀ לִבְנֵ֣י הָ֭אָדָם גְּבוּרֹתָ֑יו וּ֝כְב֗וֹד הֲדַ֣ר מַלְכוּתֽוֹ׃

True faith is never meant to remain a private, internal experience. The destiny of faithful individuals goes beyond quietly recognizing God's greatness in their own hearts; it demands stepping outward to share that awareness with the rest of the world. The ultimate purpose of praising God is to publicize His deeds to those who do not yet recognize them [רד״ק, מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. Through their words, the righteous actually become the medium through which God reveals Himself to humanity [מאירי].

This message is specifically directed at ordinary, everyday people [אבן עזרא]. When the righteous speak about God, they do not pretend to capture His true essence or encompass the full scope of His power, as such concepts are completely beyond human comprehension. Instead, their sole intention is to translate these infinite, divine ideas into terms that the limited human mind can easily grasp [מלבי״ם].

God reveals Himself to humanity through two distinct avenues. One is His routine governance of the world through the set laws of nature, while the other involves supernatural interventions and miracles, where He forcefully breaks those natural laws [מלבי״ם]. There is a careful educational strategy in how these concepts are presented to the public, prioritizing the supernatural miracles before the natural order. To prevent doubt and plant a solid foundation of faith in people's hearts, it is necessary to first demonstrate God's supernatural power. Only after that faith is deeply rooted is it appropriate to teach about the majestic glory He reveals through the everyday laws of nature [אלשיך].
