תהלים, פרק קמ״ה, פסוק ב׳

Psalms 145:2Sefaria

בְּכׇל־י֥וֹם אֲבָרְכֶ֑ךָּ וַאֲהַלְלָ֥ה שִׁ֝מְךָ֗ לְעוֹלָ֥ם וָעֶֽד׃

The relationship between a person and God is built on a balance of fresh daily observation and an eternal perspective. A true spiritual commitment spans both the normal routine of today and the endless stretch of forever. While this dual focus might seem like a poetic way of expressing the exact same idea twice [מאירי], the primary approach among commentators is that there is a deep difference between the two timeframes. The focus on daily life points to the current world and the steady beat of time, whereas the focus on eternity points to the World to Come and a reality completely beyond time [רד״ק, ביאור שטיינזלץ].

The daily practice of blessing God is not a mindless repetition. Instead, it is a living, dynamic response to the specific events a person goes through each day [מצודת דוד]. This act of blessing remains constantly fresh because God Himself renews creation every single day, bringing a new flow of goodness into the world [מלבי״ם].

There is a natural growth that happens when a person commits to this daily practice. Sticking to a routine of daily blessing lifts a person to a higher spiritual level, moving them from simply being someone who blesses to someone who constantly praises, which is a much greater spiritual state [אבן עזרא]. Furthermore, because God's true nature is entirely beyond human praise, a person can only praise Him by observing the blessings He gives. The fresh blessings experienced each day are exactly what make it possible for a person to offer eternal praise [מלבי״ם].

Alongside this promise of endless praise is a feeling of deep humility. There is a clear understanding that even if a person could live forever and spend all of eternity continuously blessing and praising God, they would still remain entirely small and insignificant when standing before the infinite greatness of the Creator [אלשיך].
