This worldwide outpouring of gratitude is driven by two main forces: the revelation of divine justice and the blessing of abundant rain.

The primary approach among commentators views this universal gratitude as a direct response to God's righteous judgment. When the nations of the world witness perfect fairness in how God governs, they will be moved to offer thanks. They will see a reality where the righteous are justified, the wicked are punished, and every individual receives exactly what they deserve, ultimately bringing true peace to the earth [אבן עזרא, מצודת דוד, מאירי]. This realization takes on a specific historical dimension in the future, particularly following the downfall of the armies of Gog. The nations that remain, including the survivors from the enemy camp itself, will witness this event and fully acknowledge God's absolute power and sovereignty [רד״ק].

Alternatively, other perspectives tie this global gratitude to the cycles of nature and the blessing of the earth. In this view, the plea is for the arrival of desperately needed rain. After a period where drought served as a harsh tool of divine judgment, the return of rainfall will awaken the nations to thank God for His goodness [מלבי״ם]. This natural blessing is also deeply connected to specific divine providence over the Land of Israel. True, complete gratitude will emerge when the Land of Israel yields an unusually abundant harvest while the rest of the world suffers from severe drought. This stark contrast will create a situation where all nations must rely on the crops of Israel.
