God personally promises to fortify the Israelites with courage. However, this bravery will not stem from standard military power; instead, it will flow directly from God [מלבי״ם, מצודת דוד]. Even as God delivers this message, He refers to Himself in the third person as the ultimate source of their might, a common biblical style of expression emphasizing that their power is rooted entirely in Him [מצודת דוד, רד״ק]. Empowered by this divine support, the people will rely on His name, find blessing in it, and walk with complete confidence [אבן עזרא, מצודת דוד]. This deep sense of security will guide them as they pursue their goals, whether that involves leaving the hardships of exile behind [מלבי״ם] or marching boldly into battle against formidable empires like Assyria and Egypt [מצודת דוד].
