A profound process of inner healing and transformation awaits the human soul. Instead of enduring endless spiritual struggles and emotional numbness, a future era promises complete inner unity, where a person's will and awareness work in perfect harmony to embrace Divine guidance.

This transformation begins with the gift of a single, unified heart. Rather than receiving an entirely new heart [מנחת שי], the people are granted an undivided consciousness. The mind will no longer be torn by doubt or hesitation. It will possess complete faith in God alone, turning completely away from past abominations [מצודת דוד, רד״ק]. This marks the end of the soul's internal war. Where once two opposing forces, the urge for good and the urge for evil, pulled a person in different directions, willpower will now awaken exclusively toward the good, perfectly matching the guidance of intellect and understanding [מלבי״ם].

Alongside this unified heart comes a new spirit, bringing a fresh desire to follow God's laws [מצודת דוד]. On a psychological level, this spirit will stop feeding the mind with thoughts of jealousy, pride, and lust. In their place, it will generate only inner visions of humility, holiness, and a careful avoidance of sin [מלבי״ם].

The next stage of this repair involves physically uprooting the heart of stone from the body [מצודת דוד]. A heart of stone represents deep emotional and spiritual numbness. It is a hard, unfeeling core [ביאור שטיינזלץ] that stubbornly refuses to accept correction or moral guidance [רד״ק], making it nearly impossible for any Divine impressions to leave a mark [מלבי״ם]. In its place, God will provide a heart of flesh. The primary approach among commentators is that flesh represents softness. This new heart is submissive, gentle, and yielding [רש״י, מצודת דוד]. It is fully capable of feeling [ביאור שטיינזלץ] and remains openly receptive to moral instruction [רד״ק]. A soft heart is like a prepared material, ready to receive the writing of God and impressions of holiness. This deep mental and emotional preparation will finally remove the barriers created by the urge for evil, allowing the people to walk faithfully in God's path and ultimately bringing His Divine Presence to rest among them [מלבי״ם].
