יחזקאל, פרק י״ג, פסוק ז׳

Ezekiel 13:7Sefaria

הֲל֤וֹא מַֽחֲזֵה־שָׁוְא֙ חֲזִיתֶ֔ם וּמִקְסַ֥ם כָּזָ֖ב אֲמַרְתֶּ֑ם וְאֹֽמְרִים֙ נְאֻם־יְהֹוָ֔ה וַאֲנִ֖י לֹ֥א דִבַּֽרְתִּי׃ {ס}

False prophets often claim divine authority to mislead the public, fabricating visions and attributing them to God. In a direct and personal rebuke, God confronts these individuals face-to-face, exposing the deep layers of their deceit [רד"ק].

The accusation against these figures rests on a double lie. First, their supposed visions are entirely fabricated, as they have never actually experienced any true prophetic revelation. Second, even the forms of divination and magic they rely on to convince the people are completely fake [מצודת דוד].

Despite the entirely false nature of their actions, these prophets have the audacity to continue speaking to the public, presenting their own words as a direct message from God [רד"ק]. In response, God issues an absolute denial. He clarifies that not only did He never appoint them for any mission, but He never spoke to them or delivered any message to them at all.

Because of this total disconnect from divine truth, there is no possible way for their predictions to come true. Their words will not be fulfilled naturally, since they are rooted in empty visions. Furthermore, they certainly will not be brought about by God's power, because He never spoke them and never stood behind their claims [מלבי"ם].
