The future division of the land places the Prince's portion in a unique location, creating a bridge between the sacred spaces and the tribal territories. The territory assigned to the Prince lies entirely within the strip of land bordered by Judah to the north and Benjamin to the south. The boundaries are repeated simply to provide extra clarity and emphasize the exact location [מצודת דוד].

The entire width of this designated region between Judah and Benjamin belongs to the Prince [רש"י]. However, the sacred lands belonging to the Levites, which also include the priests [מצודת דוד], as well as the area dedicated to the city, are situated directly in the middle of this space [מצודת ציון]. Because these holy areas occupy the center of the region, the Prince's land is effectively split into two long, narrow strips on either side of the center of the country, stretching out to the east and the west [ביאור שטיינזלץ].

This specific geographic arrangement paints a powerful conceptual picture. By having the sacred lands rest squarely in the center of his territory, it appears as though the Prince has personally set aside and offered up this holy contribution from the very heart of his own inheritance [מלבי"ם].
