The division of the land places the nation's leadership at the very heart of the country, physically and spiritually anchoring the people. The Prince's inheritance is situated centrally, specifically nestled between the territory of Judah to the north and Benjamin to the south [רד"ק]. It encompasses the remaining area east and west of the designated sacred zone, which houses the Temple, the priests, the Levites, and the city [רש"י, ביאור שטיינזלץ].

This royal land covers the entire width of the twenty-five thousand cubits allocated to the three central strips belonging to the priests, the Levites, and the city [רש"י, מלבי"ם]. From this central core, the Prince's territory stretches outward to the edges of the country, reaching the eastern border on one side and extending all the way to the Mediterranean Sea on the west [רש"י, מצודת ציון]. Its overall length runs parallel and is completely identical to the land portions given to the other tribes [רש"י, רד"ק].

At the absolute center of the Prince's estate lie the sacred grounds and the Temple. These sacred grounds primarily refer to the portion set aside for the priests [רש"י, מצודת דוד]. However, an alternative perspective suggests that the Prince's entire territory earns the title of a holy offering simply because God's Temple resides within its borders [מלבי"ם]. The primary approach among commentators is that the sacred offering and the Temple sit perfectly in the middle. The Prince's lands symmetrically wrap around this holy center, flanking it completely on both the eastern and western sides, ensuring that the spiritual core remains enveloped by the leadership's domain.
