The division of the land in Ezekiel's vision is shaped by perfect, flawless order. The most sacred section of this territory is laid out as a distinct rectangular strip, dedicated entirely as a holy portion to God [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. This specific area is assigned to the priests. It is positioned in the northern part of the larger dedicated zone, resting right against the southern border of the tribe of Judah [רש״י].

The dimensions of this priestly domain are carefully defined. It stretches twenty-five thousand reeds in length from east to west, and ten thousand reeds in width from north to south [רש״י, מלבי״ם, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. The entire priestly estate is strictly contained within these exact, established boundaries [מצודת דוד, מצודת ציון].

At the absolute center of this land sits the Temple Mount. Measuring five hundred by five hundred reeds, the sanctuary is perfectly positioned in the middle of the strip, balanced evenly across both its length and width [רש״י, מצודת דוד, מלבי״ם]. Once the central Temple complex is established, all the vast remaining land surrounding it is set aside for the priests to use [רש״י, מלבי״ם].
