The sweeping campaign to rid the land of idolatry finally comes to a close. After systematically uprooting every symbol of foreign worship from the entire region, the king makes his way back to his capital city.

The destruction of these false gods is absolute. The statues are not merely removed but forcefully broken and smashed apart [מצודת ציון]. To ensure that no trace survives, the shattered pieces are then thoroughly crushed [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. With the land completely purged of these objects, the mission of purification is complete.
