The family records of Meshelemiah detail the names of his sons in the exact order of their birth. Zechariah was the firstborn, followed by the second son, Jediael. The lineage continued with the third son, Zebadiah, and the fourth son, Jathniel.

Throughout history, as these ancient family records were copied and published, minor mistakes occasionally found their way into the text. For instance, in certain early large-print editions of the Bible, the name of the second son was accidentally printed with an extra letter. This was simply a typographical error made by the printers and does not represent the true, original spelling of his name [מנחת שי].
