To ensure there is no confusion with another individual bearing the same name, the lineage explicitly traces Ladan back to his ancestor Gershon [מצודת דוד] and repeats Ladan's name multiple times [רד״ק, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. Beyond simply clarifying his identity, this repetition highlights the immense honor and greatness Ladan achieved, as he produced an exceptionally large number of family heads compared to others [מצודת דוד].

From this vast and prominent family, Jehiel emerges as a central figure. As the firstborn [רד״ק], he served as an important leader and the primary head of the ancestral houses for Ladan's family [רש״י, מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. The sons of Jehiel were granted a highly respected position, appointed to watch over the treasuries of the House of God. These treasuries held items of immense value and sanctity, containing either the sacred Temple vessels, fine flour, and wine, or the silver, gold, and dedicated donations brought to the Temple [מצודת דוד, מלבי״ם].
