The division of the Promised Land establishes specific regional boundaries for each of the Israelite tribes. For the tribe of Naphtali, the assigned territory is uniquely shaped by the surrounding natural geography.

The primary approach among commentators notes that the land given to Naphtali is defined by its direct connection to the Sea of Galilee. One of the borders of their land extends right up to the edge of the water. From that point, the vast majority of their territory spreads out toward the northwest. This specific placement locates the main area of Naphtali's inheritance firmly within the eastern section of the Upper Galilee region.
