The process of dividing the land among the tribes moves steadily forward. As the casting of lots continues, the fourth lot determines the specific geographical boundaries for the tribe of Issachar.
This newly assigned territory was situated directly north of the lands given to Ephraim and to the east of Manasseh's portion [מלבי״ם]. The southwestern edge of Issachar's land met a specific section of Ephraim's territory. This part of Ephraim's land reached outward in a northwestern direction, extending all the way to the area known as Michmethath, which sits across from Shechem in the hills of Ephraim. Directly opposite this mountainous region, down in the lowlands, lay the vast expanse of the Jezreel Valley [מלבי״ם].
