Addressing the audience as children reflects a deep closeness, as the nation is likened to sons of God [אבן עזרא]. This intimate appeal carries a demand for immediate action. The call is to embrace the teachings of the Torah right now, while the listeners remain in a pure state as God's children, before they can be tainted by the influence of foreign wisdom. It completely dismisses the dangerous illusion that a person can safely explore outside philosophies, relying on self-confidence to avoid harm or assuming they can simply repent later. Instead, the directive is to keep a total distance from the very start of that path [אלשיך].

The plea involves a twofold process of listening, representing two distinct stages in acquiring wisdom.
