The departure from Egypt was a moment of deep emotional contrast, marking a powerful turning point for the redeemed nation. While the Egyptians were consumed by heavy mourning over the Plague of the Firstborn, the Israelites departed in a state of great joy [רד״ק, אבן עזרא]. This redemption unfolded as a direct result of the merit of the nation's forefathers, particularly Abraham [רד״ק, אלשיך].

Instead of fleeing in fear, the Israelites marched out triumphantly, filled with pride and carrying great wealth [מלבי״ם, אלשיך]. As God led His selected people out [שטיינזלץ], the righteous individuals among the nation took the lead in expressing their gratitude. These chosen ones offered songs of praise to Him as they journeyed toward freedom [מלבי״ם].

This vocal celebration held a deeply exclusive status. Although God brought angels along with the Israelites during the Exodus, He did not permit the angels to sing. Instead, He reserved the profound privilege of singing songs of thanksgiving strictly for the Israelites, His chosen ones [אלשיך].
