A lifelong spiritual journey requires a constant, active search for the presence and power of God, rooted in regular prayer and a deep desire to connect with the divine. One way to understand this pursuit is by looking toward the physical center of worship. The call to seek God's strength is understood as a directive to seek out the Ark of the Covenant. Rather than an instruction to search for God forcefully, it is an invitation to find the physical location where the Ark rests and to offer prayers in that sacred space [אבן עזרא, רד״ק]. In this context, the instruction to constantly seek His face is a call to maintain a regular and frequent routine of prayer before Him [רד״ק].

Alternatively, the search for divine strength can be viewed as a direct plea for God to act in the world. It is a request for God to openly reveal His power and capabilities to humanity [מצודת דוד]. More specifically, this involves asking God to display His might by granting victory in the battles fought by Israel [מאירי].

On a deeper conceptual level, the dual pursuit of God and His strength represents an embrace of the two distinct ways He governs the world. The pursuit of God is associated with seeking His deep mercy, while His strength represents strict justice and hardship. A person is called to accept the combination of both approaches. Carefully measured hardships in this world serve a vital purpose. They cleanse a person of mistakes and prevent the arrogance and rebellion that often arise from an overabundance of comfort. However, encountering strict justice can easily lead to despair, making a person feel as though God has abandoned them. To counter this, the instruction to constantly seek His face serves as a vital anchor. It is a call to pray that God will show favor and accept those prayers, ensuring that even in the darkest moments of difficulty, a person can still feel His closeness and comforting light [אלשיך].
