A prophet's mission can sometimes hit a solid wall of spiritual stubbornness. When the Israelites refuse to accept the prophetic message, it is not due to a personal failure on the part of the messenger, but rather reflects a deep, fundamental rebellion against God Himself.

The people's unwillingness to listen has nothing to do with the prophet lacking the right words, struggling to speak their language, or being personally disliked. Instead, the root of their refusal is a complete rejection of God's guidance and correction. They simply do not want to listen to Him [רד״ק, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. Even if the messenger were to deliver God's words in the exact order they were received, the message would still fail to penetrate their hearts [מצודת דוד]. This profound spiritual block is driven by sheer arrogance, likening the people to someone with a hardened forehead. It is a powerful image of a brazen individual who lifts his head in absolute defiance and stubbornness [מצודת דוד].
