The ultimate defeat of enemy nations serves a higher purpose: the universal recognition of God's authority. Human logic often assumes that a king's honor is measured by the vast number of people under his rule. Because of this, one might mistakenly think that destroying entire nations would diminish God's greatness in the world. In reality, the exact opposite is true. It is specifically through the downfall of these enemies that God's glory will be magnified and publicized [אברבנאל].

God will make His glory known among the nations of the world [מצודת דוד]. This widespread recognition will occur when the nations witness the severe judgment and vengeance brought upon those who joined forces with Gog and shared in his defeat [רש״י, מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ].

This judgment will be precise. It is an exact, measure-for-measure consequence, punishing the enemies for their specific sins in the very place where those offenses were committed [מלבי״ם]. Beyond witnessing the judgment, the nations will directly experience the striking blow of God's power [מצודת דוד, מלבי״ם]. They will recognize His absolute strength because this punishment will not unfold through natural events. Instead, it will be a clearly miraculous intervention, proving the sheer force of His hand to everyone [מלבי״ם].
