The sudden collapse of an invading army is vividly captured through the image of a soldier losing grip on his weapons. This imagery reflects the natural physical mechanics of archery during combat. A warrior typically holds the bow itself in his left hand to provide stability. Meanwhile, the right hand, which is usually the stronger and more dominant hand, is responsible for the actions that demand power and precision, such as loading the arrow, drawing back the heavy bowstring, and aiming at the target [רד״ק, ביאור שטיינזלץ, מצודת דוד].

In the midst of battle, God intervenes directly, striking the weapons and causing both the bows and the arrows to drop from the soldiers' hands. The deeper significance of this physical disarmament is absolute military futility. The enemy's arsenal will provide no advantage whatsoever. Their tools of war will fail them completely, becoming so utterly worthless that it will be as if they do not exist at all [רד״ק, מצודת דוד].
