King Solomon's royal court relied on a highly organized administration, and the sons of Nathan held particularly vital roles within this leadership. The kingdom relied on twelve ministers who were responsible for supplying food and provisions for the king and his entire household. Some view it literally, meaning he was born into a family of priests. Zabud's second title, the king's friend, highlights his deep personal connection to Solomon. This type of role was standard in royal courts, designed to provide the king with personal company, bring him joy, and offer a listening ear.
