Absolute divine justice forms the very foundation of how the world is governed. In the presence of this justice, all social gaps and human hierarchies completely dissolve. God refuses to show favoritism. He does not overlook sins or give preference in judgment to those who hold power and authority [רש״י, מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ]. Whether a person is a ruler [רש״י], a generous individual [מצודת ציון], or someone possessing great wealth and status [רלב״ג, ביאור שטיינזלץ], the rule remains the same. Before God, there is no discrimination. The rich and the honored receive the exact same justice and reward as the poor and the weak [מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ].

This principle of strict equality is mirrored in the Torah's instructions for human judges. When a wealthy person and a poor person stand trial together, the court is required to equalize their clothing so that the rich person does not visually stand out or gain an unspoken advantage over the poor. Furthermore, this divine impartiality operates even on a national scale. During the Exodus, God did not show favoritism to the Israelites simply because they had grown wealthy from the spoils of Egypt while the Egyptians were left impoverished. Instead, He judged both nations with flawless justice [אלשיך].

The root cause of this absolute equality is simple: every single person is the work of God's hands. Rulers, elites, and the impoverished alike were all created by Him. Because He is the maker of them all, there is no fundamental difference between any of them when they stand before Him in judgment [מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ, אלשיך].
