Job 36:28Sefaria

The phenomenon of rainfall is far more than a routine weather event; it is a profound wonder that reflects God's exact care and supervision over the world. Humanity cannot fully grasp the hidden mechanics of the rain or the sheer greatness of the Creator, who commands the clouds and guides them entirely according to His will [שטיינזלץ, אלשיך].

High in the skies, water drips and falls from the clouds While the initial release might begin as a heavy, unified flow, it is miraculously separated into fine, delicate drops [מלבי״ם]. Here lies a distinct wonder of creation: exactly as these individual drops are formed in the heavens, they travel all the way down to the earth without ever merging into a single, destructive stream [אלשיך].

The primary approach among commentators is that this abundant rain is meant to shower over a vast multitude of people, or simply to provide a massive amount of life-giving water for humanity Alternatively, the focus shifts from the sheer quantity of people to their spiritual greatness. There are times when the natural order does not call for rain at all. In these moments, God opens His heavenly treasury and brings down rain solely in the merit of a righteous and devoted individual whose prayers protect their generation Building on this spiritual perspective, the recipients of this blessed rain can also be understood as the nation of Israel. When the people stand together in unity and maintain a high level of spiritual quality, they become worthy of receiving this divine flow from the upper waters [אלשיך].
