While wicked people may enjoy temporary success, the safety of those who do good is stable and permanent because it flows directly from God [מצודת דוד]. This enduring security often reflects a deeply personal experience of being rescued from the schemes of violent and harmful individuals [מאירי].

In providing this safety, God does not merely send help from afar. He Himself becomes their actual fortress and strength [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. Just as a strong tower shields anyone who steps inside, God protects those who seek refuge in Him, no matter where they are [אבן עזרא]. Enveloped in this absolute defense, the righteous are assured that they will never fail [רד״ק].

Beyond physical safety, this rescue operates on a deeper, internal level. Every person faces a private struggle against their own evil inclination. God actively helps the righteous overcome these inner challenges, yet He graciously counts the victory as the sole achievement of the individual. This earned merit stands ready to protect them in times of distress, unlocking a higher level of divine care. At this spiritual height, even if destiny or natural circumstances dictate that hardship must occur, God overrides these forces. He alters the very laws of nature and destiny to act as their personal shelter and ensure their rescue [אלשיך].
