A life lived with honesty and faith carries a quiet confidence, free from the need to fear false accusations or use deceit to protect a reputation. Trust in God guarantees that a person's inner truth and commitment to justice will eventually be revealed to the world in full force. The primary approach among commentators is that this divine assurance guarantees the ultimate clarification and public display of truth. Evildoers are often forced to hide their actions in the shadows, driven by shame and the fear of judgment. In stark contrast, God will take the righteousness of those who trust in Him and display it before the entire world, making it as visible and obvious as daylight [מלבי״ם, רד״ק]. God will actively clear the innocent of false charges [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. He will provide for their needs, openly punish their enemies [אבן עזרא], and ultimately grant them a positive reward that serves as undeniable proof of their upright character [מאירי, מצודת דוד].

This public vindication grows in intensity, culminating in a state compared to the middle of the day, when the sun reaches its absolute peak in the sky [מצודת ציון]. Just as the midday sun is blindingly strong and impossible to deny, the recognition of the person's just and righteous path will become clear to all [רד״ק, מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ].

Offering a different perspective, another approach focuses on the process of spiritual purification through suffering. In this view, the progression of light represents the gradual nature of God's providence. Initially, God brings a person's inner righteousness to light slowly, much like the gentle dawn piercing through the night. This phase represents God using mercy to purify a person of their flaws step by step. However, this gentle dawn can be followed by a sudden shift. The strict attribute of divine justice and the trials of suffering may eventually strike the person with intense, abrupt force, mirroring the harsh, beating heat of the midday sun [אלשיך].
