Humility stands as the exact opposite of wickedness [אבן עזרא], characterizing those who have endured degradation and humiliation at the hands of cruel people in this world [רד״ק]. While pride and arrogance inevitably lead a person to lose their wealth and possessions, the quality of humility is exactly what ensures a person's inheritance will endure [תורה תמימה].

The promise of inheriting the earth unfolds on multiple levels. In a practical and immediate sense, it means these individuals will remain securely and permanently in their place [ביאור שטיינזלץ], gaining a long-lasting estate [מצודת דוד]. Beyond this lies a spiritual and eternal meaning. While the physical world will eventually wear out and fade like an old piece of clothing, the humble will receive an everlasting inheritance, living on in a renewed world [אלשיך, מאירי].
