Constructing the framework of the Tabernacle required a highly stable foundation to support its heavy walls. The primary approach among commentators is that solid silver bases served as the foundational mounts for the structure. Rather than resting directly on the ground, the wooden panels were set into these heavy metal sockets.

To ensure a secure fit, the bottom of each board was crafted with two downward extensions. These parallel wooden projections were designed to slide perfectly into matching hollowed-out spaces within the silver bases. By placing two individual silver sockets beneath every single board, each wooden extension had its own designated anchor. This interlocking method allowed the silver bases to tightly grip the wooden panels, locking them firmly into place and giving the entire structure the sturdy support it needed.
