יחזקאל, פרק כ״ח, פסוק ו׳

Human arrogance reaches a point of no return when a person attempts to elevate themselves to the level of the divine. Such supreme pride inevitably triggers a severe response from God. The core of this offense lies in an individual actively setting their heart on becoming equal to God, making a deliberate effort to match their own desires and status with the heart of God [מצודת דוד].

This extreme level of pride serves as the direct cause for the punishment that follows. Arrogance of this magnitude is deeply offensive to God, as a haughty heart is considered an abomination in His eyes. Consequently, anyone who displays such overwhelming pride will not escape divine judgment and will surely face justice [מלבי״ם].
