Ezekiel 40:46Sefaria

A specific chamber is set aside for the priests who manage the sacrificial service. While its entrance faces north [רד״ק], the actual structure is located on the south side of the courtyard, just south of the eastern gate. This southern placement is highly practical. The ramp leading up to the altar is positioned on the south side, and the priests must remain close to it within their designated courtyard to perform their duties efficiently. Because this area is so close to the altar, space is tightly restricted, leaving just enough room for this single chamber [מלבי״ם].

The individuals occupying this space are appointed directly over the altar service, tasked with managing and offering the sacrifices They are specifically identified as the descendants of Zadok. Zadok was a prominent priest during the reign of King David and later became the very first High Priest to serve in the Temple built by King Solomon

The distinguished lineage of Zadok traces back to Eleazar and Phinehas, who originally received the covenant of priesthood. This stands in sharp contrast to the priestly line of Ithamar, which lost its elevated status following the curse placed upon Eli the priest [רד״ק]. The sons of Zadok are the ones destined to continue serving in the future [מצודת דוד]. Out of the entire tribe of Levi and all the other priestly families, they alone are the chosen group designated to draw near to God and perform His sacred Temple service [מצודת דוד].
