Ezekiel 6:10Sefaria

וְיָדְע֖וּ כִּֽי־אֲנִ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה לֹ֤א אֶל־חִנָּם֙ דִּבַּ֔רְתִּי לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת לָהֶ֖ם הָרָעָ֥ה הַזֹּֽאת׃ {פ}

Divine punishment and exile often appear as pure acts of destruction, but they actually serve a profound educational and corrective purpose. The experience of suffering is designed to awaken the people to a deep understanding of the consequences of their actions. By enduring these hardships, they come to realize that God is absolutely faithful in administering justice, holding humanity accountable for its choices

The warnings of impending disaster are absolute and will be fully realized [רד״ק]. Yet, this retribution is far from an arbitrary or empty display of anger Instead, the punishment is carefully directed toward a specific, positive goal [מלבי״ם]. It aims to bring the people to the stark realization that their suffering and wandering are the direct results of their idolatry. Once they understand the root cause of their pain, they are naturally motivated to repent and change their ways

Through this process of deep reflection on their past actions, the people are able to perceive God's mercy, recognizing that He keeps them in mind even in moments of strict judgment [חומת אנך]. Ultimately, the suffering is understood as a completely justified response. The disaster does not stem from baseless hatred, nor is it merely a reaction to a lack of good deeds; rather, it is a precise and necessary consequence for severe wrongdoing
