King Solomon finalized the organizational structure of the Temple service, ensuring that the holy duties were carried out exactly as his father, King David, had originally planned. Solomon organized the priests into distinct divisions so that each group would serve during its precisely scheduled shift, following the exact law and order established by David [מצודת ציון, מצודת דוד]. Working alongside the priests were the Levites, whose main role was to offer praise and service through sacred song [מצודת דוד].
